Filtration Fabrics are those products with the help of those, filtration process is done. On macro grade it can be organized in woven filtration fabric and non woven filtration fabric.
A-Non Woven Filtration Fabrics-
In filtering operation a non woven filtration fabrics can be often described as a random fibrous web. In this style of filtration media sedimentation is carried out either by mechanically or chemically. Usually non woven fabric suppliers supply filtration fabric from the ability of 1 to 500 micron. Below rating of 10 to 15 micron , the filtration fabric is qualified to catch substances of finer micron ratings. The micron status depends significantly on the analysis procedure by which the maker rates the media and whether the rating is liquid or air. Because rankings are may be diverse from one maker to another. So user has to care when comparing filtration fabrics of one manufacturer to another. It can be of huge differences. So it crucial to ask the non woven producer for a copy of the test procedure to check rate. In addition to the micron pour rating there are a number of other considerations including dust handling capability, flow rates and differential pressure data.
Characteristics of Non woven Filtration Fabrics-
Non woven filtration fabrics are broadly known as sheet or web structures bonded collectively by sediment fiber or filaments (and by perforating films) mechanically, thermally or chemically. The characteristics of non woven filtration fabrics are flat, porous sheets that are made directly from independent fibers or from molten plastic or plastic film. They are not from weaving or knitting and they do not require changing the fibers to yarn.
The filtration fabrics of this class are designed fabrics that may be of a limited life. They are single-used fabric or a very long-lasting fabric. Non woven filtration fabrics offer particular functions such as absorbency, liquid repellency, resilience, stretch, softness, strength, flame retardancy, wash ability, cushioning, filtering, bacterial barrier and sterility. These qualities are often combined to create fabrics suited for specific jobs, while achieving a good balance between product use-life and expense. They can mimic the look, texture and strength of a woven fabric and can be as bulky as the thickest padding's. In blend with other fibers they deliver a spectrum of products with numerous properties, and are used alone or as devices of apparel, home furnishings, and health care, engineering, industrial and consumer products.
B- Woven Filtration Fabrics-
Woven typed Filtration Fabrics are made of two sets of yarns.
One set of yarns runs as warp and another runs along the length of the fabric. The various other set of yarns the weft is perpendicular to the warp. Woven fabrics are held together by weaving the warp and the fill yarns over and under each other.
The woven Filtration Fabrics are cloth produced by knitting. They increase only in the bias direction, unless the threads are elastic.
Characteristics of Woven Filtration Fabrics:-
Woven Fabrics do not expand. It extends only diagonal sides. Woven Filtration fabrics are formed of fibers which run direct at ninety degree angles to the other. Knitted fabrics have loops of fiber that enables the fabric to stretch. The amount of stretching and directions are variables. A knit may expand in one direction or it may expand in both directions. This is an important aspect when choosing fabric for a particular usage.
