What is the first thing you need to do when drilling hole in concrete surface? Keep in mind that drilling through a concrete surface is entirely different from drilling through wooden walls. The surface will be much stiffer and harder. You may choose to use a concrete hammer but you will never want to risk accomplishing cracks on your precious wall instead. So, how do you do it? You better get yourself together and collect all the necessary materials that you need for this project. It is a good time for you to take out that concrete cutter that you have been keeping safe down your basement. You might think that you will never use it again after the construction of your garage but you did now. For starters, you need to drill a pilot hole into the wall. You can use a small diameter masonry bit to do this. Gently insert the small bit into the initial hole that you have marked depending on the placement of the fixture that you plan to install. Make sure that you set the drill into the highest level for full power. Before starting the drilling, get a masking tape and mark the depth of the hole that you want to create. This will be your guide or mark to know how deep you have penetrated on the concrete wall. Repeat the same procedure for the rest of the holes. See to it that the drill is perpendicular to the concrete surface for better results.
