Waste paper imports decline and supply gaps appear

China's waste paper consumption in 2017 is expected to be about 78 million tons, of which about 27 million tons of waste paper are imported. Imports have fallen again after 2016. From 2012 to 2017, the average annual growth rate of China's waste paper consumption was about 5.0%. Waste paper import licenses began to be tightened in the second half of 2017. As of now, only 4,190,300 tons of waste paper licenses have been issued in 2018. It is predicted that China's waste paper consumption in 2017 is expected to be about 78 million tons, of which about 27 million tons, and imports fell again after 2016. From 2012 to 2017, the average annual growth rate of China's waste paper consumption was about 5.0%. Waste paper import licenses began to be tightened in the second half of 2017. As of now, only 4,190,300 tons of waste paper licenses have been issued in 2018, and it is expected that the annual issuance will not exceed 20 million tons. The paper permit quota is 28,107,600 tons, and the supply gap is about 8 million tons.
